Regulation
Voluntary regulation is provided to the legal services sector through a number of bodies. Any matters that cannot be resolved through direct contact with the individual company may be taken up with their respective regulatory organisation.
- IPW
- The Institute of Professional Willwriters (IPW) was founded in 1991 as a self-regulatory body to safeguard the public from unqualified practitioners and unethical business practices and has become established as the recognised professional body regulating and promoting the profession of Willwriting in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
- SWW
- The Society of Will Writers is a non-profit making self regulatory organisation which seeks to Protect the Public and serve the interests of those men and women who are active professionals in our field. The Society has set itself two main tasks. To promote to the Public at large the real need and sense in having a valid Will and to act as a self-regulatory body by vetting practitioners through stringent membership requirements, proficiency standards and on-going training
- LSB
- LSB are the new, independent body responsible for overseeing the regulation of lawyers in England and Wales. Our goal is to reform and modernise the legal services market place by putting the interests of consumers at the heart of the system, reflecting the objectives of the statute that created us, the Legal Services Act 2007. We share our regulatory objectives with the ‘Approved Regulators’ of the legal profession, each of which have direct responsibility for the day-to-day regulation of the different types of lawyers.
Please contact your individual provider for details of which regulatory organisations they are members of.
